Raising money for Pancreatic Cancer in honour of my Mum!

As most of you know, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2023, and having an operation and radiotherapy to treat that, my Mum Nicki was diagnosed with an aggressive pancreatic cancer in February 2024.. 


She has been through an 11 hour operation, swiftly followed by 2 more emergency ones during her 3 weeks in hospital. 

 

She has handled all the crap that’s been thrown at her, like an absolute trooper. To show our support, 3 of my amazing friends and I are going to take part in The Big Step Forward to raise awareness and hopefully lots of funds. We will be completing a 15K walk on 13th July, so any donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated ❤️


It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. 


The funds we raise will enable Pancreatic Cancer UK’s nurses to continue to be there for those affected by pancreatic cancer now and fund research to detect early, treat better and transform care.

Chemo Update

So after having 3 lots of surgery just under 8 weeks ago, the next step is chemo. This will start in the next 3-4 weeks and will be done in 2 weekly cycles, for 6 months! She will have a port fitted, and then return the following week for the chemo to start. She will be having Folfirinox, which is a very aggressive type of chemo. There are no guarantees the cancer will not  return but this is her best option for now. 

The next 7 months will be a challenge but she will smash it, as always. 

Hair cut short and dyed a crazy colour, ready to start chemo..
