My donations could fund...

109 hours with a nurse on our support line

52 hours of early diagnosis research

We are fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK

We are taking part in The Big Step Forward to transform the future for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers. Sadly, for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. But there is hope.

The funds we raise will enable Pancreatic Cancer UK’s nurses to continue to be there for those affected by pancreatic cancer now and fund research to detect early, treat better and transform care.

The money you donate will have the power to make that possible. Thank you

Reasons for Stepping Forward

At 11 a.m. on Monday, February 6th, 2023, we were given the devastating news that Peter had pancreatic cancer. Edward, Peter, and I were in total shock when the news was delivered. We simply sat in disbelief, holding hands, unable to speak for what seemed an eternity.

After surgery to perform the Whipple procedure, which sadly was unsuccessful, Peter is now receiving chemotherapy. The hope is that 10 to 12 cycles of chemotherapy will shrink the tumour, allowing a team of doctors to attempt surgery again.

Our family remains optimistic about the treatment Peter is receiving. We have had excellent care and assistance from both the Oncology department at Charing Cross Hospital London and the Hepatobiliary team at Hammersmith Hospital London.

When The Big Step Forward, a nationwide event organised by Pancreatic Cancer UK, was brought to my attention, I didn’t hesitate for even a second about participating. I know first-hand about the good work being done.

I have an amazing circle of friends who have signed up to support and join me on the walk, which takes place on Saturday, July 15th. Our group will start from Hammersmith Bridge and finish on Thames Road, Strand-on-the-Green Chiswick, at the Bell and Crown Pub, a walk of just over 4 miles. The effects of chemotherapy can be brutal, but if Peter feels up to it, he too will join us, united for the cause.

If you are able, would you please consider sponsoring us to support this truly worthy charity and the important work being done at Pancreatic Cancer UK?

Thank you for your consideration,  Barbara Antram
