I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK
I went to the Doctor with stomach ache and he gave me a course of tablets. These didn't and he tried different ones. Halfway through taking these I had some black stools and went to see the doctor again. He sent me straight to a specialist. After various procedures they gave me the diagnosis of Pancreatic cancer. The surgeon said that he may be able to save me and I had the Wipples operation where they took out half my stomach half my pancreas my gallbladder my appendix and some bile duct due to the tumor being at the centre. If I would not risk the op he gave me 6 months. This was in 2019 just at the start of the covid. I had the op and they nearly lost me twice and rushed me down to the theatre 2 days after for a 6 pint blood transfusion. The op lasted 10 hours and I was in hospital 4 weeks with no visitors during that time. After several times of being rushed in hospital afterwards with terrible pain I am now more stable and the pain is now controlled with controlled medication. It's now 5 year's next month since the op and I have been very lucky. I am extremely grateful to all the people involved and would not wish this terrible cancer to affect any other people. We need to act to reduce the risk of getting this decease.
