My donations could fund...

16

hours with a nurse on our support line

7

hours of early diagnosis research

I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK

I’m taking part in The Big Step Forward to transform the future for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope.

The funds I raise will enable Pancreatic Cancer UK’s nurses to continue to be there for those affected by pancreatic cancer now and fund research to detect early, treat better and transform care.

Your kind donation will have the power to make that possible.

Together, we can step up and stamp out this brutal cancer.

Thank you.

My Updates

Thanks to everyone

So we just completed 5 Miles for the big step forward. My 2 yr old walked about 4 miles of it and my nephews 6&11 did so well. We did this in memory of their mum my sister. My other sister and late sisters husband and our dad joined us.

Walk complete

5miles done.

Some background

It’s now 6!months since we lost Dawn. She was my oldest sister who died a few days before Christmas aged 45.
Dawn had been unwell for about 2 years with back pains intermittent and pains diarrhoea committing and weight loss. She had contacted the GP’s approx 20 times and seen 13 different clinicians either face to face or by phone. They put her symptoms down to musculoskeletal back pain supported by an MR scan that showed a bulging disc. No one investigated further even when the symptoms were progressing. She had some initial bloods that were abnormal but resolved and were then never repeated. They never got her pain under control and never investigated why her symptoms did not fit the diagnosis until it was too late and a locum doctor saw her and was concerned.
The doctors have reviewed her case and apologised but it won’t bring her back.
If we can help raise money to improve awareness and early diagnosis in Dawns memory then I will keep doing everything possible.

Signing up

I saw this advertised on facebook and felt that it was something I can do to remember my sister Dawn and help prevent others go through the same poor experience that she did.
