Wrinkly's Warriors

Our Memories

A collection of memories of Ben Campbell, also known as Grandad Wrinkly.

-- Jess --
Because Grandad lived in Salisbury we would write to each other every week without fail, even if it was just the boring details of everyday we would both sit and read each others letters and reply again with more boring day to day stories. And of course each letter from Grandad would be addressed to his most favourite granddaughter and my reply would remind him that I am his only granddaughter.

Spreading Awareness

Pancreatic Cancer is the 10th most common form of cancer yet still only 1 out of every 5 people diagnosed are diagnosed in the first two stages, lowering the survival rate dramatically. By spreading awareness and noticing the symptoms we can push to change this and give people a higher change of an early diagnosis.

Symptoms often go unnoticed and ignored for far too long which means that 50% of diagnosis's come from emergency treatment in A&E and not from routine checks with your doctors.

Know the symptoms:
- Indigestion
- Tummy and/or back pain
- Changed in your stool
- Unexplained wait loss or loss of appetite
- Jaundice

By sharing these symptoms we can hope to change the 7% survival rate and give more than half of patients longer than three months to live after their diagnosis.

It is so important to spread awareness around Pancreatic Cancer and donate directly because only 3% of the annual UK Cancer Research Budget goes towards Pancreatic Cancer, even though only 1 in 10 people will receive treatment that will potentially cure this disease.

Whilst it is important to always spread awareness, get routine checks and donate to all forms of cancer research charities, there are numerous forms of cancer, such as Pancreatic Cancer, that do not receive enough attention that they need to keep people alive.

Please find more information and graphics to share on your social medias on the raise awareness page on Pancreatic Cancer UK's website.

We are fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of Ben Campbell.

We are taking part in The Big Step Forward for the second time in memory of our Dad & Grandad, Ben Campbell, who died in 2017 as a result of his Pancreatic Cancer.

We feel like there is still not enough awareness around Pancreatic Cancer and as a result people around the world are loosing members of their families and friends to this horrible disease.

We want to raise money to offer support to people with this diagnosis and their families who are struggling with loss, as well as raise money for life changing research to help find better practices to cure and improve people's quality of life once diagnosed.
