Event Information

Our award-winning Virtual Big Step Forward returns on Saturday 17th July!

Last year over 600 supporters joined us as we walked physically apart but virtually together across the country, raising more than £168,000 to fund pioneering research and stamp out pancreatic cancer.

This year we will be taking on The Big Step Forward virtually, again. We would love for you to join us!

Whatever the distance, every step you take will support world-leading researchers to speed up diagnosis and improve treatments. Together we can transform the future for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.

Just remember wherever you are walking, to ensure you follow the most up to date Government guidelines regarding Covid-19 and social distancing for the local area, and only take part if you feel able to.

Whether you, a friend or family member are affected by the disease now, or you’re remembering someone you’ve lost, we can stand together to save lives.

Top Tips to having a great virtual Big Step Forward experience!

1. Sign up

Gather your friends and family to all sign up. You don’t have to be physically in the same place, to walk together.

2. Decide on a distance

We suggest that everyone walks 1 or 4 miles, but you can choose whatever distance you want.

3. Choose your walk route

Choose a walking route which is special to you and that you can easily get to on the day.

Just remember wherever you are walking, to ensure you follow the most up to date Government guidelines regarding Covid-19 and social distancing for the local area, and only take part if you feel able to. Check your nation's guidelines here. England; Northern Ireland; Scotland; Wales; Jersey.

4. Get fundraising

We're here to support you with your fundraising from the moment you sign up; providing all the tips and tools you'll need.

5. Join the live Facebook community on 17th July

Join us live in the Facebook group throughout the day on 17th July, as we bring you entertainment and plenty of cheering support!

6. Complete your walk and celebrate

No doubt you'll want to take a moment of reflection during your walk, but afterwards why not celebrate finishing the walk with a post-event picnic or pub lunch!

Lynda was fortunate that her cancer was found early enough for her to have surgical treatment in January 2020.

Lynda said: "I wanted to do something to help others. We signed up to The Big Step Forward and roped in lots of friends. We all walked separately from each other on 16th May last year. It was so great to be able to do something all together, even if physically we had to be apart!"
